Observation
Project Area 1: Researching remote sensing, ubiquitous computing and supply-chain monitoring technologies for observing and governing resource extraction.
Smart Forests is organized into five project areas that investigate digital practices for managing environmental change.
Project Area 1: Researching remote sensing, ubiquitous computing and supply-chain monitoring technologies for observing and governing resource extraction.
Project Area 2: Studying how AI, machine learning, sensor networks and drones detect and respond to real-time forest events, especially in the form of wildfires.
Project Area 3: Investigating how IoT, data analytics, remote-sensing and carbon emissions monitoring technologies measure forest processes and respond to environmental change objectives.
Project Area 4: Analyzing civic apps, platforms and sensors to understand how deforestation and reforestation initiatives are formatted, mobilized and supported through civic engagement.
Project Area 5: Studying how forests become social-political technologies, while also focusing on reforestation technologies, including drones for mass planting.
